Tokyo Disneyland Guide — Tickets, DPA, Rides & Parade Tips (2026)
Tokyo Disneyland tickets, DPA vs Priority Pass, top rides, and parade tips from multiple visits. Everything you need before your first trip.
Tokyo Disneyland — What You Need to Know Before Going
Tokyo Disneyland is a theme park in Maihama, Urayasu, Chiba Prefecture, Japan — about 25 minutes from Tokyo Station by JR train. It sits next to Tokyo DisneySea, but they're completely separate parks with separate tickets.
I've been to Disney parks in Hong Kong, LA, Paris, and Tokyo. Tokyo had the best atmosphere by far. Japan takes animation culture seriously, and it shows — the crowd energy during parades is on a different level compared to other locations.
Opened in 1983, Tokyo Disneyland draws roughly 17 million visitors per year — the most-visited theme park in Asia. This is a park where parades and character experiences matter more than rides. If you want thrilling rides, DisneySea is the better choice. Disneyland is better for families, kids, and people who love Disney characters.
Key Info
- Location: 1-1 Maihama, Urayasu, Chiba 279-0031, Japan (25 min from Tokyo Station by JR)
- Hours: 09:00–21:00 (varies by season; actual gate opening ~30 min before official time)
- Tickets: ~$60–65 on Klook / ¥9,400 official (Apr 2026, varies by date)
- Getting there: JR Maihama Station — direct walk to entrance
- Must-do before visit: Install Tokyo Disney Resort app + create MyDisney account
Getting There
Take the JR Keiyo Line from Tokyo Station to Maihama Station. About 25 minutes. Disneyland is walkable directly from the station — no monorail needed (DisneySea requires a monorail transfer, Disneyland doesn't).

If you're planning to arrive at opening, get to the station by 7am. Official opening is 9am, but they usually start letting people in around 8:30. Even at 8:30, the line was already massive.

Tickets
Ticket prices vary by date. Peak days and weekends cost more, weekdays and off-season are cheaper.
Prices (April 2026):
- Klook: ~$60–65 (varies by date)
- Official site: ¥9,400 (adults)
Klook is slightly cheaper than the official site. The voucher can be registered in the Disney app and used directly as your park ticket. Popular dates sell out — book as soon as your travel dates are confirmed.
Book Tokyo Disneyland TicketsOnce you buy the entry ticket, all rides inside the park are free. The only extra cost is DPA (paid express access).
Before your visit: install the Tokyo Disney Resort app (English version) and sign up for a MyDisney account. DPA purchases, Priority Pass, parade times — everything happens in the app. You can also check hours and parade schedules on the official Tokyo Disney Resort site.

DPA vs Priority Pass — The Key System to Understand
There are two ways to skip the lines at Tokyo Disneyland. First-timers often get confused, but the difference is simple.
Priority Pass (Free)
A free time-assigned pass you claim through the app. You don't choose the time — the system assigns a window, and you show up during that window for a shorter wait.
Available Attractions (Disneyland, 5 total):
- Big Thunder Mountain
- Pooh's Honey Hunt
- Haunted Mansion
- Star Tours: The Adventures Continue
- Monsters, Inc. Ride & Go Seek!
See the official Priority Pass page for full rules.
How to use:
- Step 1: After entering the park, open the app → "40th Anniversary Priority Pass"
- Step 2: Scan park tickets for all members
- Step 3: Select attraction → get assigned time → show up at that time
- One pass per person at a time — use it or wait for the time to expire before getting another
- You can't choose the time. You can cancel (in the app)
- Limited supply — popular attractions run out by mid-morning
DPA — Disney Premier Access (Paid)
A paid express pass where you pick your preferred time slot. Purchase through the app with a credit card.
Attractions (Disneyland):
- Beauty and the Beast "Enchanted Tale" — ¥2,000/ride (most recommended)
- Baymax's Happy Ride — ¥1,500/ride
- Splash Mountain — ¥1,500/ride
Parades/Shows:
- Disney Harmony in Color — ¥2,500/show
- Electrical Parade Dreamlights — ¥2,500/show
- Reach for the Stars — ¥2,500/show
- Mickey's Magical Music World — ¥2,500/show
- It's a Sweetsful Time! — ¥2,500/show
See the official DPA page for full rules.
How to use:
- Step 1: After entering, open app → "Disney Premier Access"
- Step 2: Choose attraction/show + time slot → pay
- Step 3: Go at your selected time → use the express lane
- Next DPA available after 60 min or your booking start time, whichever comes first
- You can hold an attraction DPA and parade DPA at the same time
- Limited quantity — sells out in the morning. Buy right after entering
- No cancellation or refund
DPA vs Priority Pass summary:
- Priority Pass = free, can't choose time, 5 attractions
- DPA = paid, choose your time, 3 attractions + 5 shows
- Both are limited supply — grab them early in the morning
Beauty and the Beast has a standard wait of 2+ hours. Paying ¥2,000 for DPA saves massive time. If you buy only one DPA, make it this one.

Top Rides
Compared to DisneySea, Disneyland rides are less thrilling overall. They're designed more for families and younger kids.
Popular (long waits):
- Beauty and the Beast "Enchanted Tale" — ~8 min ride, elaborate sets with music. Wait: 2hr+. DPA strongly recommended
- Pooh's Honey Hunt — ~4-5 min, trackless ride system. Wait: 1hr+

- Space Mountain — indoor roller coaster, similar to indoor coasters at other parks
- Splash Mountain — log flume. Less splash than other parks
- Monsters, Inc. Ride & Go Seek! — ride a tram with a flashlight to find hidden monsters
Short waits:
- Gentle attractions like It's a Small World have almost no wait
- The park train works as both transportation and a ride
If rides are your priority: early arrival + DPA combo is essential. If you're there for the atmosphere, ride 1-2 things and spend your time on parades instead.
Parades — The Real Highlight
Parades matter more than rides at Disneyland. DisneySea's shows are on a lake (viewed from a distance), but Disneyland parades come down the street right in front of you. Characters walk up close, give high-fives, and interact with the crowd.

Main parades (2026):
- Disney Harmony in Color — main daytime parade, ~45 min
- Electrical Parade Dreamlights — nighttime parade
- Seasonal parades (Christmas, special events)

Parade times change daily. Always check the app on the day of your visit.
Parade viewing tips:
- For a good spot, arrive 30 min to 1 hour early
- Face away from the castle (the castle is to the south — you'll be shooting into the sun if you face it)
- The road on the opposite side of the main entrance is better for photos
- Parade DPA (¥2,500) gets you a designated area, but with good positioning, you don't need it
Character Greetings & Souvenirs
You'll find costumed characters near the entrance and throughout the park. Popular characters like Mickey Mouse have 50-min to 2-hour waits for photos.
Gift shops are at each attraction exit (themed to that ride's characters) plus a large general shop near the entrance. Small plushies ~¥2,000, large ones ~¥5,000.

Food
Every restaurant inside has a wait. Even popcorn takes 5 minutes. Lunch spots: 10+ min minimum.
The Turkey Leg is famous — it's huge but quite tough and messy to eat by hand. That said, one leg keeps you full through the afternoon.
Disneyland vs DisneySea
| Tokyo Disneyland | Tokyo DisneySea | |
|---|---|---|
| Ride style | Family-friendly, low thrill | Adult-oriented, higher thrill |
| Parades | Close-up street parades, more variety | On-lake water shows |
| Typical wait times | Shorter overall | Longer — 120–180 min common |
| Landmark | Cinderella Castle | Lake + Mt. Prometheus volcano |
| Best for | Kids, families, parade fans | Adults, thrill seekers, couples |
Tickets are sold separately — you can't park-hop between the two. Pick one and commit.

Pick Disneyland for families, kids, and parade lovers. Pick DisneySea for adults who want thrill rides and a more unique atmosphere.
