Tokyo Harry Potter Studio Tour Guide — Tickets, Tips & What to Expect (2026)
Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo tickets, how to get there, what's inside, butterbeer, wand shop, and tips from someone who's been to both Tokyo and London.
Tokyo Harry Potter Studio Tour — Newer and Better Than London
Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo - The Making of Harry Potter is a Harry Potter exhibition and experience facility in Toshimaen, Nerima, Tokyo, Japan. It opened in June 2023 as the second Harry Potter studio tour in the world, after London.
I've been to the London studio earlier this year. Tokyo is newer, the facilities are cleaner, and there's more to see and do. If you've watched the Harry Potter series from Philosopher's Stone to Deathly Hallows Part 2, you'll recognize nearly every set piece.
It's not just looking — there are hands-on experiences like broomstick riding, green screen filming, and Floo Powder teleportation. Budget at least 3 hours for the full tour.
Key Info
- Location: Toshimaen, Nerima, Tokyo (17 min from Ikebukuro via Seibu Railway → 2 min walk from Toshimaen Station)

Luggage Storage & Before Entry
You can't bring large bags inside. Two storage options:
- Outdoor coin lockers — free (¥100 refundable deposit). Self-service. No security check
- Indoor cloakroom — free. Staff-assisted. May have a wait when crowded. Security check required
Locker sizes: L 930×350×555mm / M 775×350×575mm / S 290×350×555mm. A carry-on suitcase fits in the L size. No currency exchange on site — bring cash if needed.
Also: you can enter the studio 1 hour before your booking time. The lobby has Frog Cafe and Food Hall, so arriving early is fine — grab a drink while you wait.
Tour Structure
The tour flows: Part 1 (indoor) → outdoor area → Part 2 (indoor) → gift shop. It's self-guided — a brief guided intro at the start, then you explore freely.
Part 1 highlights:
- Hogwarts Great Hall — actual film set recreation. First major space

- Dumbledore's office — iconic set piece, must-photograph

- Green screen experiences — broomstick flying, teleportation scenes filmed with you
- Costume, makeup, and music production exhibits
Outdoor area:
- Dursley house (4 Privet Drive) recreation

- Hogwarts bridge — walk across it (floor is intentionally uneven)
- Butterbeer bar — buy butterbeer here
Part 2 highlights:
- King's Cross Station Platform 9¾ — push the cart for photos (shorter queue than London)
- Hogwarts Express train interior walkthrough

- Floo Powder experience — green smoke effects make it feel like the movie (most impressive)
- Hogwarts Castle miniature — final exhibit, scaled-down film model

Butterbeer
Available at the outdoor Butterbeer Bar for ¥1,250 per glass. Not actual beer — it's a cream-topped soda drink.

The cup can be washed and kept as a souvenir — there's a washing station right next to the bar.
Food & Drink
Three dining spots inside:
- Food Hall — in the lobby before the tour. Salads, burgers, pastas, pizza, desserts
- Frog Cafe — lobby area. Drinks and light snacks
- Backlot Cafe — halfway through the tour (outdoor area). Hot meals, sandwiches, butterbeer
Backlot Cafe is where you get butterbeer. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Food Hall and Frog Cafe are accessible before your tour time.
Gift Shop
Two shops to know:
- Railway Shop (King's Cross area) — carries items not available in the main shop. Don't walk past it
- Main Gift Shop (tour exit) — wands, tote bags, plushies, robes. Full lineup
Wands cost ¥4,600 each. There's a touch-screen display that shows which character's wand you're holding — fun to browse.

London vs Tokyo Studio
- Facilities: Tokyo opened 2023 — newer and cleaner
- Scale: Tokyo has more interactive experiences
- Queues: King's Cross photo spot has a much shorter line in Tokyo vs London
- Price: Similar range (Tokyo ¥6,300~ / London £55~)
- Verdict: Visited both — Tokyo was better
Tips From Visiting
- Book a morning slot — fewer crowds, shorter waits for experiences
- Allow 3–4 hours for the full tour
- Check the Railway Shop near King's Cross area — has exclusive items the main shop doesn't
- Butterbeer cup is a keepable souvenir (wash it at the station)
- 17 minutes from Ikebukuro via Seibu Railway — easy from central Tokyo
- You can enter 1 hour before your booking time — lobby cafes are open
- Store large bags in free outdoor coin lockers or the indoor cloakroom
- If you haven't seen the Harry Potter films, the experience loses a lot — watch them before going
